The Riptide

The Riptide Ventures is a mostly good Alliance-aligned outfit with a quiet reputation and a short memory for questions that get people killed. On the surface, we take contracts.
Escorts. Bounties. Salvage. The sort of work that keeps food on the table and blood off the docks.
That’s what most people see.But currents are stronger beneath the waves. Some jobs don’t stay buried. Some discoveries shouldn’t be named. When things surface that cannot be allowed to linger, Riptide Ventures moves first, moves fast, and leaves nothing behind but calmer waters.Still waters run deep.
The Riptide does not stay still.
And in the deep… speed is what saves lives.

You can expect creepy. You can expect comical. You can expect everything in between.

Guidelines

"The Code is more what you'd call guidelines than actual rules"

Jokes aside, follow the rules or we're going to have problems

1. Riptide is a safe place for people of all backgrounds to be themselves. Language that is racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, or anything else of that nature will not be tolerated.

2.Respect one another. If you are doing something and someone requests you stop, please do so immediately. We are here to have fun. If a topic is a trigger, you have every right to ask that it not be discussed.

3. Real life comes first. Always. You are under no obligation to attend events, or remain at an event once it starts if something happens irl. If something comes up mid-scene, just let us know it's for irl reasons, and take care of what you need to. No explanation necessary.

4. Sexual harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Full Stop. Any accusations will lead to thorough investigation by the officers.

5. Keep personal drama out of public channels or guild chat. If mediation is needed, anyone rank 'Warden' or above is capable of doing so. Just ask. We'd rather solve the problem and move on than lose a valued member.

6. Speak up. If there is an issue, we have to know about it to fix it. Our DMs are always open, and we will happily assist with whatever is needed. Any Officer or Warden is capable of handling issues within the guild.

Disclaimer We are all adults here. This guild is 18+, mostly because we deal with heavy topics from time to time. Certain topics remain fully off-limits, of course. The real world is a scary place, and the worst of it has no place in rp.

Who We Are

At a Glance     We are a mixture of friends from assorted communities and games, first and foremost. Our themes are adult oriented, which isn't to say they're necessarily sexual, but we enjoy writing stories that are slightly more gritty than the main story and would definitely make a game rated Mature. This means that there is a minimum age requirement of 21. Sorry if you're 18-20, we're not trying to discriminate but its a comfort level and many of us are parents. A mixture of high and low fantasy, with high and low technology added in, just like Warcraft itself. Our stories are meant to be in-character and in-universe with as little lore break as possible. Bend is fine, but we're not Gods, and as we all know, even Titans can fall. We're the characters behind the scenes. We avoid main character interactions or anything having to do with the main story cast while still operating within said environment as our own selves. The secret behind the curtain, the knife in the dark, the mission no one knows about. Our mainline plot behind the scenes involves the Riptide Ventures having an SCP Foundation type vibe mixed with anti-Void machinations. On the face we're every bit, as some folks have called it, "Void Sympathizers with too much access to Titan technology." Our tales play out with a mixture of Pirates of the Caribbean and The Dresden Files. If you're a fan of horror- be it gothic, cosmic, body, or mental, you'll likely find something you enjoy in our stories. If you're a fan of the Pirates series, you'll find something you enjoy. Same can be said if you're just a fan of Fight Club, John Wick, the Craft or the Vampire Chronicles. There's a lot to unpack and we cater to a large variety of themes because of it. And of course there's the fight club which has it's own system. We are the RP guild that operates the Vermillion Masque, our Horde-Side guild on Wyrmrest Accord, as well as the Riptide Taproom venue, which will be launching with housing (DM Oblscorpiox to check it out). It is not a requirement to join in all that we do, but the stories of the three are heavily intertwined. So if you're just a cook looking for work, we've got a kitchen and a galley. If you're a mercenary looking for a paycheck, there's fight pit with your name on it. Or if you're a retired Adventurer just enjoying your best life, we have a place for you, too. In short, regardless of your concept, we've probably got something for you to enjoy. One of our long term goals is to establish enough active players to make our own housing area/village based around player housing. That said it is not a requirement for you to have your house open to everyone, or to have it in the community area even. I hate HOAs in real life, I don't pay your subscription. Have fun.

Event Types

Blades
For Hire

Mercenary work is the Riptide Ventures public face. Clean enough to trust. Dangerous enough to matter.Caravan escorts?Discreet bodyguards?Armed protection for merchant ships that can’t afford to be boarded or questioned? If you have coin and a problem, we can make both disappear.Protection, though, is only the beginning. As long as a contract aligns with our interests, nothing is off the table. That noblewoman seeking a guard may not fear bandits at all. She may be running from secrets better left buried. The Riptide doesn’t ask why she needs protecting. We ask how long she needs it to last.Hero or villain, it makes little difference to us. Those titles change depending on who survives to tell the story. We’ve worn both, often in the same week.Every villain is a hero in their own mind.
We don’t judge.
We solve problems.
And we get paid to do it.

  • These events can and will run the gambit from social events and slice of life, to in-character fishing trips, exploring new islands, finding lost treasure, even fleeing Pirate Hunters.

  • While multiple missions may seem unconnected, our GM is known for tying together facets of multiple encounters into their storylines.

Reliquary of Dreams

The Reliquary of Dreams is not advertised. It’s spoken of in half whispers and thieves cant, even among Riptide members. A place that supposedly exists, maintained in secret by the Golden Sands and the Vermillion Masque, and never marked on any map worth trusting. It is where relics go when they cannot be destroyed and should never be used lightly.Cursed idols. Sentient blades. Dream-tainted tomes wrapped in more wards than pages. Some are quiet. Some are not. All are watched.Artifacts like these are not found by accident.Agents of the Golden Sands, Vermillion Masque, and Riptide Ventures spend their lives chasing rumors through capital cities, backwater villages, and tribal lands. When a lead turns real, a retrieval team is assembled and the hunt begins. What follows is never clean.Guardians must be slain. Traps disarmed. Puzzles solved. Curses broken or endured. Expertise matters. Luck matters more. Survival matters most. The Riptide is sometimes contracted to recover relics for patrons of the Taproom and return them to their so-called rightful owners. Others are claimed and sold, their price rising with the danger of their acquisition. The rest are sealed away. These are entrusted to the Keepers. Scholars, mages, and those with interests best left unspoken are granted rare access to study what the world was not meant to keep. One thing is certain.
When the Reliquary stirs and a new relic is found, someone always pays the price.
How heavy that price will be is never known in advance..

  • The Relic events are usually SCP-style and difficult with lead-up breadcrumb style RP to make finding them more realistic.

Bump in the Night

Have you ever woken to a strange noise and felt as if you weren't alone? Like there was something watching you, stalking you? Waiting for the perfect moment to attack? What would you give to ensure your safety from the darkest of the dark?Asher Maddox, the proprietor and frontman for the Taproom always has a few missions for adventurers looking to make a bit of coin beneath the counter. Or willing to post commissions if you need something taken care of.Not out of a sense of charity, oh no.Because the bodies of the monsters almost always disappear as soon as the job's done.. Just don't ask what happened to them. It's safer that way.

  • Oddities missions are the 'weird' and 'creepy' end of the spectrum. Mind games, horror, and 'what the heck just happened' moments are the norm here.

  • You have been warned.

Riptide
Taproom

Deep in Duskwood, where the trees crowd close and the road goes quiet, there’s an inn with a name that doesn’t belong so far from the sea.The Riptide Taproom. Most nights, it’s a private house. Low voices, strong drinks, familiar faces. A place for Riptide members to unwind, settle debts over cards, and pretend for a few hours that the forest outside isn’t watching.Twice a month, the doors open.On fight nights, the Taproom changes. Lanterns burn brighter. The crowd grows louder. A ring is raised and sealed beneath a shimmering ward, keeping flying fists, spells, and egos contained while the rest of the room places bets and watches fortunes turn on a single blow.Warriors, brawlers, spell-slingers, and thrill-seekers come from across Azeroth to test themselves. Strength and wit are equally welcome. Victory earns gold, bragging rights, and a night that won’t be forgotten. And if the fighting isn’t your taste, there’s plenty else to draw you in. Carefully crafted drinks, hot food from a Pandaren chef who knows how to feed a crowd, games of chance, easy laughter, and the kind of companionship only found when danger presses close but stays just outside the door. The rules are simple.
Fight in the ring. Drink responsibly. Enjoy yourself.
Just don’t start trouble outside it.Because that’s when Pascal gets involved.
And no one comes to Duskwood hoping to meet Pascal.

  • The Taproom is a fight venue we enjoy running a couple nights a month. Participation is NOT mandatory, but if you are interested in attending or working the events, you will always be welcome!

Event Schedule

Timezone Typically, all events will be scheduled in CST. The Discord bot will automatically reflect the player's current time zone.Event Days Most often, events will happen over the weekend and one or two nights a week. Attendance and participation are completely optional.Unscheduled RP Pop-up RP can happen at any time, on any day... As can random, smaller events.
